Gregory H. Shanks, 52, of Mascoutah, IL born, Oct. 8, 1960 in Brazil, IN died Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL.


He was a nurse at Terrace on the Park in Mascoutah, IL, a member and minister of Apostolic Church of Belleville and a U. S. Air Force veteran.


He was preceded in death by his father, Howard L. Shanks, mother-in-law, Mary E. Hoeffken and his grandparents.


Surviving are wife, Barbara J., nee Hoeffken, Shanks whom he married in Paris, IL on April 15, 1989; daughters, Meredith A. Shanks of Mascoutah, IL and Hillary N. Shanks of Lake St. Louis, MO; his mother, Sandra K. nee Byers, Shanks of Paris, IL; sisters, Lisa Shanks of Paris, IL and Stacy (Ron) Wince of Mesa, AZ; brother, Stephen Shanks of Paris, IL; father-in-law, Charles Hoeffken, Sr. of Belleville, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Charles (Patricia) Hoeffken, Jr. of North Little Rock, AR, David (Pat) Hoeffken of Indianapolis, IN and Suzanne (Brian) Maguire of Belleville, IL; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Monday, July 15, 2013 at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL and Tuesday, July 16 from 10 to 11 AM at Apostolic Church of Belleville.


Funeral: Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Apostolic Church of Belleville with Pastor George Szabolcsi officiating.

Burial: Burial will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, July 18, 2013 in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
