August R. "Augie" Augustine

August R. “Augie” Augustine, 88, of Mascoutah, IL, born Apr. 9, 1925 in Mascoutah, IL, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at Kindred Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Augie was a retired architectural draftsman; member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah; Mascoutah Moose Lodge 815; Mascoutah Sportsman’s Club; and the Mascoutah VFW Post 7682.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August R., Sr., and Elsie, nee Dolence, Augustine; his wife, Catherine M., nee Hund, Augustine who he married in Hernando, MS on Feb. 12, 1954 and who died Jan. 12, 2001; and a daughter, Judy Saunders.

He is survived by a daughter, Jane (Craig) Wuellner of Pekin, IL; a son, Mark (Beverly) Augustine of Mascoutah, IL; six grandchildren, Jessica (Joshua) Fritz of Mascoutah, IL, Lisa Augustine of O’Fallon, IL, Shannon (Chris) Hart of Pekin, IL, Sara (David) Bozart of Pekin, IL, Angie (Steven) Lumley of Chesterfield, MO, and Scot (Tracey) Saunders of O’Fallon, MO; nine great-grandchildren, Mary, Dan, Adelia, Catie, Rylie, Jocelyn, Jake, Jordyn, and Brayden; a brother, Dick (Ellen Kaye) Augustine of St. Louis, MO; three sisters, Betty Rakers of South Weymouth, MA, Helen (Carl) Aeillo of St. Louis, MO, and Phyllis Hammond of St. Louis, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Childhood Catholic School.

Visitation: Friends may call from 2 to 6 PM Sunday Jan. 26, 2014 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, IL. A Moose Ritual will be held at 6 PM Sunday at the funeral home.


Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 AM Monday Jan. 27, 2014 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah, IL with Father Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery in Mascoutah.
