Virginia R "Ginny" Bergheger

Virginia R. “Ginny” Bergheger, nee Hayes, 90, of Mascoutah, IL, born April 20, 1924 in St. Jacob, IL, died Friday, May 2, 2014 at her residence.

She was retired from Martha Manning Dress Factory and a homemaker, a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, St. John United Church of Christ Women’s Guild, Women of the Moose Chapter 392, Mascoutah, IL and Mascoutah Senior Citizens.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Shorty” Bergheger whom she married in Mascoutah, IL on May 4, 1946 and who died March 31, 2003, her parents, Buford and Louisa, nee Schmidt, Hayes, a son-in-law, James Westbrook, three brothers, Richard, Lester and Harlan Hayes and a sister, Martha Prott.

She is survived by her children, Judy Westbrook, Roger (Susan) Bergheger, Bruce (Dee) Bergheger, all of Mascoutah, IL; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ or Mascoutah Senior Center.

Visitation: visitation is from 4 to 8 PM Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, and 9 to 10 AM Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah. There will be a Moose Ritual 7 PM Monday evening.

Funeral: funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will follow in Mascoutah City Cemetery.
