Denise Michelle Gove

Denise Michelle Goodman Gove, nee Johnson, 59, of Mascoutah, IL, born Dec. 6, 1956 in Montgomery, AL, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016 at her daughter’s residence after a long battle with cancer.

Denise retired as a produce manager after 23 years from Toms Supermarket in Mascoutah.  She previously owned Okaw Bait and Tackle and was employed at Myrtles Place.  She was a member of Local 881 UFCW, and the Mascoutah Monday Evening Bowling League.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Gordon Goodman; her father, Robert E. Johnson; mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law, Myrtle and Doug Goodman, and Joe and Betty Gove; a brother, Dennis Johnson; a brother-in-law, Roy Goodman; and a niece, Kelly Johnson.

Surviving are her husband, Gene Gove of Mascoutah, IL; a daughter, Michelle (Eric) Johns of Oakdale, IL; grandsons, Niven (special friend Katie Little) Trefftzs of Carbondale, IL; Alec and Nicholas Johns of Oakdale, IL; two step-sons, Steven (Tricia) Gove, and Gene Allen Gove of Mascoutah, IL; four step-grandsons, Joseph, David, Jacob and Cameron Gove; her mother, Virginia Johnson of Mascoutah, IL; three brothers, Allen (Vicky) Johnson of Mascoutah, IL, Robert (Kris) Johnson of Knoxville, TN, and Brad (Susie) Johnson of Mascoutah, IL; a sister, Kathleen (Angelo) Walters of Anchorage, AK; nephews, Adam (Jenny) Johnson, Daniel and Ryan Johnson, Cameron (Annette) Johnson, Lawton (Chelsea) Johnson, Connor and Elliott Johnson; a niece, Katlyn Johnson; great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

Funeral: A graveside service will be held 11:15 AM Monday, Aug. 29, 2016 in Mascoutah City Cemetery with Pastor Jack Spratte officiating.
