Eileen M. Surmeier, nee Sommer, 81, of St. Libory, IL, born June 30, 1944, in St. Libory, IL, died Monday, March 23, 2026, at Freeburg Care Center.
Eileen was a retired secretary from Bergkoetter Garage in St. Libory. She was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 683 in St. Libory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence M. and Antoinette M., nee Meier, Sommer, her husband, Ralph T. Surmeier who died Jan. 15, 2005, a son, Darrell Surmeier, and siblings in infancy, Richard and Karen Sommer.
She is survived by three daughters, Lynn (Dave) McCammon, Michelle (Mike) Comley, and Sara (Jim) Rockaway; grandchildren, Ben (Jessica) McCammon, Emily (Michael) Maasen, Jack (Christine) McCammon, Connor (Charlotte) Ryan, Daniel Ryan and fiancé, Grace, Meghan Ryan (and special friend, Jacque), Ralph, Violett, Ben, Sam, and Jake Rockaway; great grandchildren, Henry, Charlie, Ada, Juliette, and Dean; brothers and sisters, Ray (Sue) Sommer, Gerry (Betty) Sommer, Jim (Cheryl) Sommer, Jane Sommer, and Geralyn (Jim) Hollis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Liborius Cemetery Fund, P. O. Box 331, St. Libory, IL 62282. Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 9 to 11 AM Saturday, March 28, 2026, at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, IL.
Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 28, at St. Liborius Catholic Church with Father Mark Stec celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery.
