Eugene U. "Gene" Kinkelaar

Eugene U. “Gene” Kinkelaar, 72, of St. Libory, IL, born Sept. 6, 1952, in Belleville, IL, died Thursday, July 31, 2025, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.

Gene was a retired salesman from Mascoutah Equipment Co., a member of the St. Liborius Catholic Church in St. Libory, IL, past Eucharistic Minister for St. Liborius Catholic Church, past village clerk, past zoning administrator and trustee for the Village of St. Libory, president of CFL Council #37, past commander of the Sons of the American Legion Henry Schmidt Squadron #683, past board member for the Veteran’s Memorial in St. Libory, and former co-owner of Freeburg Sales and Service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Margaret, nee Luebbers, Kinkelaar, son-in-law, Joshua Marks, sister, Marie Triefenbach, in-laws, Albert and Eleanor Kozuszek, brother-in-law, Leroy Stein, and great nephew, Mitchell Stein.

Gene is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy; daughter, Betsy Marks; son, Scott (Monde) Kinkelaar; six grandchildren, Leo and Emily Marks, Mayuulu, Stanislaus, Gladys, and Dorothy Kinkelaar; brother, Andrew (Marivic) Kinkelaar; sister-in-law, Bernadine Stein; special friends of the family, Gladys Nyambe and Melvin Buss; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

FUNERAL: A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at the church with Father Mark Stec celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory, IL.
