Evelyn A. O. Krausz

September 15, 1936 — August 15, 2025

Evansville, IN

Evelyn Anna Olinda Krausz, age 88, originally from New Baden, IL, passed away on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, in Evansville, IN.

Evelyn’s life was rooted in her faith in Jesus Christ, and God’s word continually inspired her. Across her lifetime, she was involved with the (former) St. Peter Lutheran Church in New Memphis, IL, Trinity Lutheran Church in Henrico, VA, and Concordia Lutheran Church in Evansville, IN. She participated in the choir and made many mission trips to Guatemala with members of the Trinity Lutheran Church family while she lived in Richmond, VA.

She cherished her upbringing on the family farm near New Baden, IL, and often reminisced about her days of driving tractors in the field to help her dad while her eldest two brothers were serving in the U.S. Army. She remained incredibly grateful for her nephew, Mark, and his family, for carrying on the Krausz farm legacy.

She was a 1954 graduate of New Baden Community High School (now Wesclin High School).

Evelyn had an affinity for numbers, and her long career in banking began at the age of 16, while still in high school, and spanned through her late 70s. She served community banks in New Baden, Mascoutah, and Belleville, IL; and Shawsville, Salem, and Metro Richmond, VA. She also enjoyed seasonal part-time work with Hecht’s (now Macy’s) department store, the Henrico County Government office, volunteer work for Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, VA, and volunteer work for Mark Krausz Auction Service in New Baden, IL. Her work ethic was second to none, as she often juggled full-time and part-time jobs simultaneously to raise her children during challenging times.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Elsie (Gilbert) Krausz, her siblings, Charles, Enloe, and Norbert Krausz, sister-in-law Anna Mae Krausz, and granddaughter, Faith Stoneking.

She is survived by her children Dawn Stoneking (John Waid) and Thomas (Lynn) Stoneking, grandchildren Jackson, Evelyn, and Pearl Stoneking, sister-in-law Mary Ann Krausz, and her beloved nieces and nephews, Mark (Mary Kay) Krausz, Deb Gonzalez, Yvonne (Mike) Doonan, Donna Krausz, Gerald (Mimi) Krausz, Craig (Michelle) Krausz, and their families, and the many friends she met while living in Illinois, Virginia, and Indiana.

Heartfelt appreciation goes to the assisted living staff and friends at The Wyndmoor of Evansville, who provided Evelyn a loving, caring community for the past four and a half years, the staff of St. Croix Hospice in Newburgh, IN, who offered exceptional in-home support in her final weeks, along with her primary caregivers, daughter Dawn Stoneking, son-in-law John Waid, and emotional support granddog, Leo, who always brought a smile to her face.

Memorials may be made to Mark Krausz, Treasurer, St. Peter Cemetery Fund, 4929 State Route 160, New Baden, IL 62265, or to Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis, MO, https://www.csl.edu/give/. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com
