Joseph V. “Toady” Collier, 77, of Belleville, IL born Nov. 26, 1944 in St. Louis, MO died peacefully Monday, Feb. 21, 2022 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL.
Joe was a retired meat cutter for Local 534 and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Freeburg, IL. His favorite past time in his early years was hunting, fishing, and cruising around on his four-wheeler. Joe could always be found in his pole barn which was his “man cave” either relaxing, enjoying life, or working on a project.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lillian, nee Rezba, Collier, one daughter, Angela Temple, two grandsons, Michael and Christopher Collier, one brother, Morris Collier, and sister-in-law, Judy Hedgecock.
Joe is survived by his wife, Linda, nee McCormick, Collier, whom he married in Belleville, IL on May 20, 1994; three children, Clinton (Diane) Collier of Smithton, IL, Tina (Bill) Gaffney of Highland, IL, Matt (Misty) Modrovsky of Caseyville, IL; eight grandchildren, Craig and Kristen Collier, Kyle (Ashley), Kaleb, and Kaylee Modrovsky, Robert Jr., Bradley, and Cassidy Temple; two great grandchildren, Waylon and Gabby Modrovsky and another one on the way; one brother, Elliot (Peggy) Collier of Florida; sister-in-law, Joann (Joe) Jaycox; best friend, Wilbur Smith; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be donated to Siteman Cancer Center. Condolences may be shared with the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.
Visitation: From 1 to 3 PM Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022 at Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held 3 PM Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022 at Moll Funeral Home with Ron Mazander officiating.
