Laverne L. Barthelme

Laverne L. Barthelme, nee Goss, 96, of Mascoutah, IL, born May 20, 1929, in Chicago, IL died on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025 at EverVella of Swansea, Swansea, IL.

Laverne was born in Chicago, IL and all her life she was a Cubs fan. The last few years of her life it was hard for her to get out or travel, but she loved keeping up seeing pictures and videos of her great-grandson Lance playing sports. Her other great passion in her life was her great-granddog, Midnight. She loved when Midnight came over to visit. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mascoutah Moose Lodge 815.

Laverne is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Clara, nee Wirtz, Goss, her husband, Robert A. Barthelme, sister, Audrey Engelhard, and nephew, Bruce Engelhard.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane Behlke; son, Gary (Lucy) Barthelme; five grandchildren, Shaun and Brian (Tina) Behlke, Lisa Grublesky, Lori Rinella, Lyndsey Barthelme Stacy; eight great-grandchildren, Lance, Emily, and Zachary Behlke, Asher and Alice Grublesky, Thaddaus Stacy, Gabriella and Landen Rinella; niece, Amy Barnowski, nee Engelhard; nephew, Rick Engelhard; cousin, Claire Richter; sister-in-law, Marian Seibert; and brother-in-law, Bill Berger.

VISITATION: From 5:00 to 6:30 PM Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, at Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL.

FUNERAL: A Moose Ritual will be held at 6:30 PM Wednesday, Oct.15, 2025, at Moll Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Acacia Park Cemetery, Norridge, IL.
