   Marguerite Ratliff, 95, of Mascoutah, Illinois, died Thursday, September 4, 2025, in Mascoutah.

   She was born February 8, 1930, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph S. and Mary Belle McConaughey Banister. She was raised in Ohio.

   She married James Ratliff on December 6, 1952, in Bridgeport, Ohio. Thus began a life of travel, as her husband served in the Air Force. They were married for twenty-three years before his death in 1975.

   Marguerite enjoyed working at the Mascoutah Public Library for 18 years, retiring in 1990. She loved sports of all kinds and would watch anything from women's basketball to NASCAR. She was a huge Cardinals fan and enjoyed going to their games. She loved to travel and enjoyed many vacation trips with her family.

   Marguerite attended St. John United Church of Christ, in Mascoutah, for many years, where she enjoyed taking care of the church library, organizing the fellowship hour between services, and being a member of the Everfaithful Evening Guild.

   Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and two brothers.

   She is survived by three daughters: Peg Ratliff, of Griggsville, Illinois, Diane (Mike) Blaylock, of O'Fallon, Illinois, and Danette (Kent) Barttelbort, of Mascoutah, Illinois.

   She is also survived by four granddaughters: Amanda Chwascinski, of Ashley, Illinois, Lindsay (David) Miller, of Belleville, Illinois, Candice Hoppes (Shaun), of O'Fallon, Illinois, and MacKenzie Barttelbort, of Mascoutah, Illinois; seven great grandchildren: Carol Chwascinski, Danielle (Joe) Wacker, and Dwaine Chwascinski, all of Ashley, Illinois; Lucy Greene, Tony Greene, Joey Greene, and Teddy Miller, all of Belleville, Illinois; a great-great grandchild, James Wacker, of Ashley,Illinois; two nephews: Joseph (Janel) Banister, of North Dakota and David Ratliff, of Illinois; and two nieces: Wendy Banister (Amber Fredrickson), of Kansas, and Kendra Henry, of Colorado.

   In lieu of all other gifts, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation 13770 Noel Road, Suite 801889, Dallas, TX 75380. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting mollfuneralhome.com.

   Visitation: From 5 to 7 PM Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at Moll Funeral Home, Mascoutah, IL.

   Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 7 PM Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, at Moll Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10 AM Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
