August 8, 1951 — October 25, 2025

Mascoutah

Roger E. Richter, 74, of Mascoutah, IL, born August 8, 1951, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025.

He was the devoted and loving husband of Rita and the proud father of six daughters: Jamie (Dan) Mobley, Laura (Chad) Yarber, Megan (Rico) Santana, Audrey (Dave) Schulenberg, Lauren (Mike) Ratulowski, and Kelsey Quade (Zac Cochran).

He was the cherished grandfather of William and Reese Mobley, Payton, Kaitlyn, and Aubrey Yarber, Lucian Santana, and Emery Ratulowski. He is also remembered by his special niece, Nancy Schubert, and his nephews Perry, Mark, and Kyle Dameron, along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and his aunt, all of whom he loved deeply.

Born to Howard and Thelma, nee Renth, Richter. Roger was a devoted son who carried on the family tradition of farming. He loved his farm and farmland, taking great pride in raising livestock and working in the fields. His connection to the land was a lifelong passion, and he found peace and purpose in the work it required. His love for farming was matched only by his enjoyment of his fast cars. Roger also valued time with his Renth cousins, spending time at the Renth family clubhouse and proudly continuing the family tradition of butchering together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Norbert Richter, and his sister, Janice Dameron. His family imagines them welcoming him home, already saving him a seat at the euchre table.

Roger will be remembered for his love of family, his strong ties to his farmland, and the time he shared with family and friends. His legacy lives on in the fields he worked, the family he raised, and the many lives he touched.

Galatians 6:9 – “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
